Welcome to OnaBeyond. By registering for an account, accessing, or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. Please read them carefully.

Part 1: Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating a student account on OnaBeyond, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use our platform. OnaBeyond is designed to connect prospective students with verified university partners for educational opportunities, programmes, and scholarships.

2. User Accounts & Eligibility

• You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration and onboarding process.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and use the platform.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Upload falsified documents, fake academic transcripts, or fraudulent personal statements.
• Create multiple accounts or misrepresent your identity.
• Use the platform for any purpose other than discovering and applying for higher education opportunities.
• Attempt to bypass any security or visibility settings on the platform.

4. Platform Visibility & Matching

• Visibility Settings: Your profile defaults to "Private" upon creation. You may manually opt-in to the "Verified Network", which makes your profile visible to verified universities matching your study preferences.
• No Guarantee of Placement: OnaBeyond provides a matching platform but does not guarantee admission to any university, receipt of any scholarship, or successful visa sponsorship.

5. Termination

You may delete your account at any time via the "Danger Zone" in your Profile settings. OnaBeyond reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account if we suspect fraudulent activity or a breach of these Terms.

Part 2: Privacy Policy (GDPR Compliance)

OnaBeyond is committed to protecting your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Data Protection laws.

1. The Data We Collect

To provide our matching services, we collect:

• Identity & Contact Data: Name, email address, date of birth, country of residence.
• Educational & Professional Data: Academic qualifications, professional qualifications, study preferences, funding requirements, and visa sponsorship needs.
• Documents: Core Documents (CV/Resume, Personal Statement) and Optional Other Documents (Academic Certificates & Transcripts, Professional Certificates, English Evidence, Research Proposals).

2. How We Use Your Data (Lawful Basis)

We process your data under the following lawful bases:

• Contractual Necessity: To provide the core matching service you signed up for.
• Consent: When you explicitly change your visibility to "Verified Network," you consent to us sharing your profile data with verified university partners.
• Legitimate Interests: To improve our platform, ensure security, and provide relevant platform analytics.

3. Data Sharing with Universities

• When you set your profile to "Verified Network" or accept an invitation from a university, your data becomes accessible to that specific institution.
• Independent Controllers: Once a university receives your data, they become an independent Data Controller of that information and must handle it in accordance with their own privacy policies and GDPR obligations. OnaBeyond contractually requires universities to handle your data securely and solely for recruitment purposes.

4. Data Security & Retention

• Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
• We retain your personal data only for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently purged from our primary databases within 30 days.

5. Your Data Protection Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Rectification: Edit your profile at any time to correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Delete your account via your profile settings, which immediately removes your visibility and triggers data deletion.
• Restrict Processing: Change your profile visibility back to "Private" at any time to immediately stop universities from seeing your profile.
• Data Portability: Request an export of your profile data.
